Developmentally informed care for children and teens — with their families involved from the start.
Children and adolescents are not small adults. Their inner worlds, language, and developmental needs are different — and so is the care they need. At Adult & Child Counseling & Psychiatric Center, our clinicians who work with young patients have specific training in child and adolescent mental health and a track record of building trust with the kids in their care.
We start every case by understanding the whole picture: what is happening at home, at school, with peers, and developmentally. Parents and caregivers are part of the care plan from day one, with appropriate confidentiality for the child or teen depending on age and clinical judgment.
Treatment may include play-based methods for younger children, cognitive-behavioral approaches for school-age kids and teens, family sessions, and — when clinically appropriate — coordinated psychiatric care from one of our prescribers.
These are the concerns our clinicians most often use this service to treat.
